Pharmacy Technician - Kremmling, Colorado SIGN-ON BONUS & HOUSING STIPEND for FT Perm
Life-in-the-mountains, perks of a full-time position with Middle Park Health, a Critical Access Hospital, Level IV Trauma Center in Kremmling, Colorado:
Middle Park Health (MPH) is a successful rural health system located in the high Rockies 1 1/2 hour west of Denver, CO with seven locations in beautiful Grand and Jackson counties where we have an abundance of year-round outdoor recreational activities. As a Level 4 Trauma hospital, MPH provides a range of services, including Emergency and Surgical Services, rural health clinics, Rehabilitation Services clinics, a Wellness Center, and an Assisted Living Facility. We are in the process of constructing a new medical center in Winter Park, with plans for completion in 2025.
POSITION PURPOSE: Under the supervision of pharmacy supervisor/consultant and the Director of Nursing, the Pharmacy Technician performs designated technical and clerical tasks associated with the preparation, and distribution of medications. The Pharmacy Technician also performs designated tasks regarding pharmacy quality control, management and maintenance of pharmacy records, inventory and preparation of ordering of medication. Available for on-call duty.
Essential Job Duties:
- Runs Daily Automated Dispensing Unit reports and reviews inventory for acute, swing and LTC patients to provide timely replacement of medications for optimal patient care.
- Conducts daily restock of the Automated Dispensing Unit machine under the oversight of the pharmacy supervisor or Registered Pharmacist.
- Observes compliance of drug storage and drug preparation areas within the medication storage areas and throughout the facility.
- Places daily Cardinal Health and City Market orders to procure medication inventory with an objective to attain just-in-time inventory for KMHD stock and LTC residents.
- Orders the lowest divisible medication strength and most cost effective (on GPO contract) medications when procuring drugs. Updates the perpetual inventory log with quantities, prices, dates of receipt, and expiration dates.
- Provides/assists in the Automated Dispensing Unit training and Pharmacy Policy and Procedures review for Nursing and Pharmacy personnel.
- Annotates record of receipt on controlled substance records, CII, CIII, CVI, and CV as required by law and pharmacy policy and procedure. Updates perpetual CII inventory log.
- Coordinates and processes the return of outdated and unusable drugs via designated returns vendor at least every two months.
- Monitors Automated Dispensing Unit inventory and back-up inventory prior to purchasing from Cardinal Health for maximal inventory management.
- Promotes and implements therapeutic substitution changes and encourages formulary compliance as recommended by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee to the Nursing and Medical Staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) Preferred
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with pharmacy automation, hospital pharmacy practice, pricing and purchasing.
- Attention to detail and accuracy
Compensation: $19.57 - 32.24 per hour DOE. $2000 Sign-on Bonus + $350/month Housing Stipend in Grand, Jackson or Summit county for FT Perm
